I go in phases with my television watching. I'll make up my mind that I'm ready to give up cable, we cancel anything but the smallest cable package, and then a few months later I'm trying to convince Mr. GV that I *need* to watch "19 Kids and Counting." lol Just a wee bit irrational.
But lately something's changed. I'm much more resolved about not watching as much TV. I just......don't wanna. So I got rid of several of my season passes on Tivo. And I've made a vow to not set any new* season passes. That is a big deal for me. *Note--I will make one exception for a new season pass, and that is for "Big Bang Theory" when it starts in syndication this summer. I told Mr. GV I would watch it with him, and I'm keeping my promise.
So what do I currently watch?
1. Chuck--Mr. GV and I watch together. It will have 13 episodes in it's last season this fall, and I'm not replacing it.
2. Saturday Night Live--I enjoy some good snarky, topical TV every now and then. For now I will keep this timer, but it might be on the chopping block as well.
3. Desperate Housewives--Haven't decided if I will continue to watch this in the fall.
4. Good Eats--I only watch an episode of this every now and then, because I skip the meat-based episodes.
5. Psych--Another show Mr. GV and I watch together.
6. Mad Men--Not giving this one up, as I adore it. If we get rid of cable, this will be one of the few shows I will be anxiously awaiting from Netflix.
7. Aarti Party--We love Indian food, so I occasionally watch an episode of this on Food Network.
8. Mike and Molly--Mr. GV and I watch together.
9. The Sing-Off--Mr. GV and I watch together and it only lasts for a couple weeks a year.
10. Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes--Have enjoyed this look behind the curtain and it will be over soon.
11. 19 Kids and Counting--Thinking of getting rid of this one as well. (Kicked Kate Plus 8 to the curb recently.)
12. Days of Our Lives--This is something I have watched on and off since I was young, due to my mom watching it. For now it's staying. I admit I also half watch it sometimes, because I usually have my laptop out at the same time.
Wow--that looks like a lot of TV. Of course, some of these are fall shows and some are summer, so I'm not watching tons each week. This coming week, for instance, will have 5 hours of TV.
How does Mr. GV feel about this? Well, I don't think he cares too much. He is probably expecting me to flip-flop about it in the near future. lol But I'm hoping not. I'll report back here occasionally on how it's going.

If I could afford it, I would have tv! I don't watch much, well, didn't watch much, but I enjoyed it! I miss the news broadcasts, L&O and Medium. Of course, Medium is gone....sigh. It does seem like you watch in moderation. Some of those shows can be seen on hulu with the laptop hooked to the tv.
