Can you see it? 

I've circled it in this picture.  It's in the lower right hand corner.  Mr. GV and I came across this one afternoon in our front yard.  At first we wondered----Could it be a hummingbird?  It hovered just like the hummingbirds we have here.  But we quickly threw that idea out as we were able to get a closer look.  And then I started on the internet search.  It took a while and I had to put in some odd search terms, but I finally came across a picture and name:

It's a nessus sphinx moth!  I've lived in this area of the country for all but 2 of my nearly 40 years and this is the first time I've ever seen this creature.
