Getting ready was of course the hard part. Somebody is learning to dress himself, but socks are the most difficult part!
J, Nana, and I met up with his mommy and daddy at our usual spot to see the parade. For years we have been meeting at a little mom and pop burger 'n' shake restaurant--the kind of place with no drive-thru, but a little window out front you can walk up to and order, or have a seat at one of about 6 tables inside. We have a meal, then head outside to watch the parade go by.
Looks like somebody was having a bit of a problem with the *watching* part. If I remember correctly it went something like this:
J: I tan't see! (Hat was not over eyes, but might have been shading them, so pulls hat off.)
K or D: Put your hat back on!
J: (Yanks hat down, this time really over his eyes.)
And then the parade started. There were loud sirens from the police cars that begin the parade, and the fire trucks that are also in the parade. They're a little too loud for us big folks, so I can imagine how it sounded to J's ears. He and his mommy wound up covering his ears for a while.
And then there's the candy. Oh my there is so much candy thrown out from the people going by. J cleaned up every bit that he could, but then informed us it was all dirty (since it had been on the ground) and we couldn't eat it.
There were many different types of entries--horses, cub scouts walking, motorcycles, antique cars, beauty queens in sports cars, church floats.
