This garden season I had a bumper crop of cucumbers and some other veggies, so I got to try my hand at making an assortment of pickles. I pulled out my trusty Ball Blue Book and used their recipes.
Mr. GV likes peppers, so I decided to make a mixed pickle recipe for him. The recipe called for cukes, carrots, celery, pearl onions, sweet peppers, cauliflower, and hot peppers, plus spices, sugar, and vinegar of course.
I prefer a sweeter pickle, so I went with the cucumber sandwich pickles. I can't wait to give them a taste!
But Mr. GV prefers a tangy sort of pickle, so he is getting bread and butter pickles.
This is my first year canning pickles. In the past I've made pickles that just needed refrigeration. Hopefully these will turn out great and we'll be eating pickles all winter long!
Your vegan two cents: Do you enjoy pickles? What's the strangest thing you've ever pickled?

Yummm. I love pickled anything! Though I prefer a less sweet pickle in most cases.
Hmmm. I really like pickled lemon & lime... that's pretty oddball.
I don't pickle anything since I don't much care for pickled things. But, that looks very pretty. I thought I posted a comment once. ???
